Number of flights handled by Latvian air traffic controller LGS up 6% in January-February

- Latvian air traffic controller Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme (LGS), responsible for managing air traffic in Latvia, handled 35,510 flights in the first two months of the year, which is a growth by 6% against the same period in 2016, the company reported LETA.

In January-February this year, LGS handled 9,804 flights to and from Riga, up 0.6% from the same period a year ago, while the number of transit flights handled by LGS grew 8.1% to 25,706.


In February this year, LGS handled 16,865 flights, up 4.7% from the same period last year, including 12,150 transit flights, up 6 %, and 4,715 flights to and from Riga, up 1.5% year-on-year.


During the first two months of 2015, LGS handled 33,514 flights, while 246,999 flights were handled in the full 2016, including 67,825 flights to and from Riga, as well as 179,174 transit flights.


LGS is a fully state-owned company providing air navigation services to air space users.
