The listed Finnish meat group HKScan is to increase exports from its Rakvere meatpacking factory in northern Estonia to New Zealand to 100 tons a month.

According to CEO of HKScan Estonia, Anne Mere, the company sent a sample batch of frozen pork to New Zealand last spring and since the quality corresponded with the country's local standards, first ordered batches have reached New Zealand by now.

"We sell pork to wholesale companies whose customers are local food industries and restaurants," Mere said. "We continue to work to find new export markets for Estonian pork," she added.

AS HKScan Estonia is part of the Finnish HKScan group. HKScan's net revenue in 2016 was 1.9 bln euros and the group employed around 7,300 employees at the end of the year.
