The transactions involved both authentications and signings, the telecommunications group Telia said.

Telia's customers performed 26 million mobile ID transactions last year. The company had more than 75,000 mobile ID customers at the end of the year, up by 20,000 from the previous year, head of Telia Eesti's internet solutions and voice communication group services Allan Dobros noted.

"Over the last few months, 65,000 more active private and corporate customers of Telia have been performing approximately 2,700,000 mobile ID transactions monthly, which makes an average of about 42 transactions per user," he added.

Mobile ID is an ID card-based service that allows personal identification and authentication, including giving a digital signature, with a mobile telephone.
