The 285.41-meter-long Ridgebury Captain Drogin on Tuesday became the largest tanker ever to enter the Lithuanian seaport of Klaipeda, writes LETA/BNS.

"The number of ships entering the port of Klaipeda has been on the decline in recent years, but the size of vessels has been on the increase," said Adomas Alekna, the harbor master.

"Some 448 out of 6,898 ships that entered the port last year were more than 200 meters long. The total number of ships declined by 160 compared with 2015, but their parameters increased," he said.

The Marshall Islands-flagged Ridgebury Captain Drogin will be loaded with 90,000 tons of heavy fuel oil at Klaipeda Nafta's terminal.

The 2880.98-meter-long Hrvatska was the largest tanker to arrive in Klaipeda last year.

The number of ships with a length of over 200 meters totaled 215 in 2015, up from 198 in 2014.
