Estonian official discusses cooperation in e-governance in UAE

During a visit that ended on Wednesday, Vaino Reinart, deputy secretary general of the Estonian Foreign Ministry for economic affairs and development cooperation, discussed with officials of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) promoting economic relations between the countries and potental cooperation in developing e-governance, reports LETA/BNS.

Reinart visited the UAE with a business delegation from Monday to Wednesday, meeting with Reem Bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, minister of state for international cooperation at the UAE Foreign Ministry, and Younis Haji Al Khouri, under secretary of the UAE Ministry of Finance, spokespeople for the Estonian Foreign Ministry said.


At the meetings the current situation and prospects of relations between Estonia and the UAE were spoken about, along with developing economic ties and potential cooperation in e-governance, including in third countries.


"Estonia's user-friendly soltions have attracted remarkable attention in the UAE. We hope that the experience of Estonian entrepreneurs in developing e-government can be applied also in developing e-government in the UAE," Reinart said.


Reinart also met with the leaders of the UAE telecommunication authority.


UAE is the biggest trading partner for Estonia in the region. In 2016, the IT and consultancy company Nortal became the first Estonian business to open a representation in that country.
