International license of Estonia's Lux Express restored by Russian authorities

Russian authorities have restored the international carrier license of Russian bus company ZAO Evrolains, which belongs to Estonia's Lux Express Grupp, which was suddenly suspended at the start of the year, informs LETA/BNS.

In connection with the license being restored, the company's buses will continue carrying passengers on the St. Petersburg-Tallinn and St. Petersburg-Helsinki routes, Lux Express said. According to ZAO Evrolains CEO Rait Remmel the company eliminated all of its shortcomings as fast as possible.

"There were two kinds of shortcomings. Some of the reasons were bureaucratic and connected with some shortcomings in rendering accounts and paperwork. Due to some dents and indentations we had to replace the windshields of three buses. Although these were not in front of the driver and posed no danger to passengers, the windshields had to be replaced," Remmel said.

Lux Express was notified by Russian authorities on Jan. 2 that the international passenger carriage license of its Russian subsidiary ZAO Evrolains had been suspended in connection with some shortcomings in the company's operations. ZAO Evrolains operates three departures daily on the Helsinki-St. Petersburg route and five daily on the Tallinn-St. Petersburg route.
