Nord Pool reaches record volumes in Baltic and Nordic countries in 2016

Volumes on the Nordic and Baltic day-ahead market of the Nord Pool power exchange last year totaled 391 terawatt-hours which is a new record, while in 2015 the volumes totaled 374 TWh, writes LETA/BNS.

On all the power exchanges manager by Nord Pool a total of 505 TWh of power was traded, Nord Pool said in a press release. A total of 380 members are active at Nord Pool, trading from 20 countries.


In the Nordic and Baltic market the week of Jan. 18-24, 2016 saw volumes reach 10.2 TWh, the highest weekly volume traded in the market's history, with Jan. 20, 2016 seeing an all-time high daily volume of 1.55 TWh.  


Nord Pool operates markets in the Nordic and Baltic regions, Germany and the UK, and is a Nominated Electricity Market Operator (NEMO) in 14 European countries, while also servicing power markets in Poland, Croatia and Bulgaria. In 2016 Nord Pool had a total turnover of 505 TWh traded power. The company has offices in Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn and London.
