Tallink's Q4 passenger numbers up 4.7%

Ships of the listed Estonian shipper AS Tallink Grupp carried 2.2 mln passengers in the final quarter of 2016, 4.7% more then during the same three-month period in 2015, writes LETA/BNS.

The number of transported cargo units increased by 9.2% to 85,349 units and the number of passenger vehicles moved up 1.6% to 255,820 year over year, the company told the stock exchange.


Passengers on the Finland-Sweden route numbered 685,112, 5.4% more than in the final quarter of 2015. On the route between Estonia and Finland their number grew by 3.1% to 1.2 mln. The biggest increase was registered on the Latvia-Sweden route - by 27.9% to 131,665. The service between Estonia and Sweden registered growth by a mere 0.7% to 223,022 passengers.


Freight shipment increased the most, by 14.2% to 18,736 units, on the Finland-Sweden route. On the Estonia-Finland route freight shipment grew 8.3% to 53,113 units, on the Estonia-Sweden route it grew 5.4% to 11,326 units and on the Latvia-Sweden route it moved up 13.1% to 2,174 units.


The number of passenger vehicles carried grew the most on the Latvia-Sweden route - by 7.5% to 13,172. On the Estonia-Sweden route the number of cars increased 3% to 15,676, on the Finland-Sweden route it grew 1.4 % to 26,288 cars and on the Estonia-Finland route 1.2% to 200,684 cars.
