Latvia ranks fifth in Europe by growth of new car registrations in 11 months
The ACEA data published on Thursday show that 15,215 new
passenger cars were registered in Latvia in January-November 2016, which is a
growth by 19.8 % y-o-y.
This is the fifth highest increase in Europe after Iceland
(+34.5%), Cyprus (+25.8%), Hungary (+23.9%), and Croatia (+20.2%).
In Lithuania, new passenger car registrations increased 19%,
and Estonia showed a 10.7% rise compared to the first 11 months of 2015.
The ACEA data cover 30 European countries, of which 28
showed growth in new passenger car registrations in the first 11 months of this
year compared to the first 11 months in 2015. The new car registration declined
year-on-year only in two countries – the Netherlands (-8.6%) and Switzerland (-3.1%).
The total number of new car registrations in Europe in January-November
2016 increased 6.9% to 13,938,273 cars, of which 13,497,541 were cars registered
in the EU, which is a 7.1% rise y-o-y.
