Citrus Solutions to provide video surveillance systems for customs checkpoints
The proposal of Citrus
Solutions to provide the video surveillance systems for EUR 2.822 mln,
exclusive of VAT (EUR 3.41 mln including VAT), was found to be the best of the
two bids submitted in the tender.
The contract has to be concluded at the end of 2016 or in
early 2017.
Members of the Saeima Public Expenditure and Audit Committee
today voiced their discontent over delays in equipping the customs checkpoints
with video surveillance cameras.
The committee's chairman Andris Berzins reproached the Revenue Service's officials, saying
that originally they had promised to equip the customs checkpoints with video
surveillance cameras by the end of 2016, but that now the deadline has been
moved to the end of 2018. "Were we all fooled a year ago? We will demand
explanations about the situation from the finance minister," Berzins said,
voicing suspicions of "intentional delays".
Revenue Service representative Antra Gremzde said that initially the Revenue Service probably did not
realize what it means to provide video surveillance at all customs checkpoints.
"Now, a realistic deadline has been set," she said.
The government has earmarked EUR 3.884 mln in the budget for
the video surveillance systems that have to be installed at all customs
checkpoints by 2019. The fourth quarter of 2018 is the deadline for the
project's completion.
Citrus Solutions, a company of Lattelecom Group, raised
turnover 5.6% last year to EUR 25.024 mln, while its profit contracted 21.1% to
EUR 541,108, according to information from Firmas.lv
