Estonian shipper SLK earned profit of nearly EUR 1 mln in 2015

The sales of Saaremaa Laevakompanii (Saaremaa Shipping Company, SLK), operator of Estonia's domestic ferries which is owned by businessman Vjatseslav Leedo, last year grew 28.7 % to 35.8 mln euros and the company's profit totaled 996,340 euros compared with a loss of 753,901 euros made in 2014, reports LETA/BNS.

The company's ticket sales totaled 6.2 mln euros on the Kuivastu-Virtsu route, 2.4 mln euros on the Rohukula-Heltermaa route, 185,199 euros on the Triigi-Soru route, 186,704 euros on the Vormsi line and 84,995 euros on the Ruhnu line. The total ticket sales grew 5 % to nine mln euros, it is written in the company's annual report.


The company's sales in Estonia totaled 28.4 mln euros, in Austria 2.4 mln euros, in Germany 4.4 mln euros and in Poland 438,099 euros. The income received from the state as targeted financing was 17.6 mln euros.


The company invested 2.5 mln euros last year, 2 mln of which was invested in ferries.


The share of labor costs last year grew to 18.2 % of total expenses, while in 2014 it was 15.1 %. The group's workforce at the end of 2015 totaled 251 people compared with 183 people at the end of 2014.


Subsidiaries of SLK are OU Vainamere Liinid and Sarbuss AS.
