Eesti Energia to start selling natgas to household customers

BC, Tallinn, 15.09.2016.Print version
The state-owned Estonian energy group Eesti Energia will start selling natural gas to household customers in November,Eesti Energia representatives told BC.

"At Eesti Energia it will be possible for household customers for the first time to choose among several gas packages. The entry of Eesti Energia into the households gas market will definitely give rise to competition, which is welcome and from which customers will gain the most at the end of the day," Karla Agan, head of energy sales at Eesti Energia, said.

Agan said that aside from a broader selection of packages another asset of Eesti Energia is the possibility for the customer to get all energy services from a single provider.

If the price of gas makes up more than 70 % of the value of the gas bill, which also contains the cost of network services, choosing a different package may have a significant impact on costs, Eesti Energia said. The company has been selling natural gas to corporate customers for three years now and has increased its market share on the Estonian market to almost a quarter.
