The number of tourists in accommodation establishments increased in Estonia
In July, 29,000 tourists more than in the same month of the
previous year used the services of accommodation establishments of Estonia.
Compared to July 2015, 20,000 foreign tourists and 9,000 domestic tourists more
stayed in accommodation establishments. Foreign tourists accounted for nearly
two-thirds of the total number of tourists. In July, 315,000 foreign tourists
used the services of accommodation establishments, with 51% of the tourists
having come from Finland, 8% from Germany, 6% from Russia and 5% from Latvia.
83% of the accommodated foreign tourists came to Estonia for holidays, 12% were
on a business trip and the rest had some other reason for visiting Estonia.
Foreign tourists mainly prefer the accommodation establishments of Tallinn (63%
of the accommodated foreign tourists), Pärnu city (12%), Tartu city (5%) and
Saare county (5%).
In July, domestic tourists having used the services of
accommodation establishments numbered 172,000, which was 6% more than in July
of the previous year. 72% of the domestic tourists were on a holiday trip and
15% on a business trip. 18% of the domestic tourists having used accommodation
services stayed in the accommodation establishments of Harju county, 15% in
Pärnu county, 10% in Ida-Viru county and 9% in Saare county.
In July, 1,334 accommodation establishments offered services
for tourists. 23,000 rooms and 56,000 beds (1,800 beds more than in July 2015)
were available for tourists. 60% of the rooms and 54% of the beds were
occupied. The average cost of a guest night was 34 euros or as much as a year
earlier in July. The average cost of a guest night was 40 euros in Harju
county, 39 euros in Pärnu county, 31 euros in Saare county, and 30 euros in
Tartu county.
