Estonian lenders to set up positive credit registry

BC, Tallinn, 15.08.2016.Print version
The credit information company Krediidiinfo AS and 13 lenders active in Estonia are about to establish a liabilities registry, or so-called positive credit reporting registry, that creditors can use to assess the credit standing of their potential clients, informs LETA/BNS.

The positive credit registry is a data exchange system that creditors which have a concluded an agreement with it can use to exchange information about a person's liabilities, with the consent of that person. Estonia is one of the last countries in Europe not to have a registry like this. The idea to establish a postive credit registry is contained also in the coalition agreement of the government parties, Krediidiinfo said.

The founders of the registry include 13 creditors licensed by the Financial Supervision Authority, among them AS LHV Pank, Bigbank AS, TF Bank AB, and AS Inbank.
