airBaltic postpones flight to Antalya

In relation to possible military coup in Turkey, Latvian national airline airBaltic has decided to postpone its Saturday morning flight from Riga to Antalya, the company’s representative Janis Vanags told LETA.

The flight had to take 137 passengers to Antalya, and 144 passengers were waiting for the flight in Antalya to get back to Riga. According to information from Tez Tour company, currently there are 353 tourists from Latvia in Antalya.


"We are in direct communication with the Latvian Foreign Ministry, airBaltic and our host office in Antalya. We will provide travelers with the latest information," said Tez Tour in a statement.

The Latvian Foreign Ministry calls on Latvian nationals to put off their travel plans to Turkey until the situation in this country is peaceful again.


Latvia is following the development of events in Turkey and is calling on its nationals visiting this country to avoid public places, said Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics (Unity).

A Turkish military group on Friday night announced a military takeover.


After a night of explosions, gunfire and tanks rolling along the streets, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Turkey Saturday that an attempted military coup was over and the government was in charge.
