Latvia’s Virsi-A fuel retailer joins association of Europe’s independent fuel suppliers

– Latvia’s Virsi-A fuel retailer has become a member of the association of Europe’s independent fuel suppliers (Union Petroliere Europeenne Independante, UPEI), informs LETA.

Virsi-A is the only Latvian fuel retailer who is a member of the UPEI.


The UPEI represents more than one third of fuel suppliers in Europe. The organization is independent of the largest oil producers, representing 15 EU member states. The association includes 16 members – fuel suppliers organizations from 11 countries and five companies from five European countries.


Virsi-A said that about 70% of the decisions and legislative changes in the sector come from Europe. One of the major benefits from the company’s membership in the association will be to become a part of a significant opinion leaders group, taking part in policy making and law making. Also, the company will now have access to international group of experts that it able to consult on different issues, and sooner information exchange about most important changes and trends in the sector.


Virsi-A head Janis Riekstins said that the UPEI membership is a significant benefit and advantage to the company.


One of the association’s members is also Estonia’s fuel market leader, largest fuel retailer Olerex, which is also the company’s strategic cooperation partner.


Virsi-A is a fuel retailer with more than 20 years of experience, running 52 fuel stations, including 48 full service fuel stations, employing 360 people across Latvia.
