Lithuanian Railways' freight traffic grew by 2.8% in 5 months

Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways) handled a total of 19.46 million tons of freight during the first five months of the year 2016, up 2.8% year-on-year, preliminary data from Statistics Lithuania showed on June 21st, cites LETA/BNS.

International freight traffic decreased by 1% to 13.7 million tons, but domestic freight volumes increased by 13.1% to 5.7 million tons.

 

In May alone, the state railway operator carried 4.207 million tons of freight – up 12.2% month-on-month and up 3.2% year-on-year.
