BC, Tallinn, 21.06.2016.Print version
The Supervisory Board of the Environmental Investment Centre (KIK) has chosen to support 365 environmental projects in Estonia with a total of 27,813,403 euros, reports news.err.ee.

The greatest number of projects, a total of 81, will be funded in the nature conservation program with a total of 2.4 million euros. A total of 76 projects related to waste management will receive 936,090 euros, and 64 projects related to environmental awareness will receive 937,757 euros.

The field of water management will be receiving the biggest share of the total funds, a total of 12.9 million euros, followed by forestry with 3.1 million euros.

This was the KIK’s Environmental Programme’s first and also only round of applications for this year, as due to shrinking resources the foundation will not be organizing a second round.

The Environmental Programme’s next round of applications is expected to be opened early next year.

Together with environmental education projects co-financed in April by the European Commission’s Cohesion Fund projects, the KIK has, through its Environmental Programme, financially supported 903 environmental projects with a total of 33.7 million euros.
