2 large retailers in Poland start selling Saku products from Estonia
"The retail market of Poland, a country of nearly 40 million people, definitely is among the biggest in Europe and for Saku making it to the product offering of leading retailers there represents a true milestone," Saku Olletehas CEO Margus Kastein said in a press release. He said the 15 different Saku beers that are now available to consumers in Poland represent effectively the entire Saku product range in beers.
The first shipment consisting of 62 pallets of beer in cans and bottles was dispatched to Poland in two parts in mid-May and at the beginning of June.
"The Polish beer market is very diverse and the consumer there attaches value to both freedom of choice and quality," Kastein said. "We believe that the decisions of the two supermarket and hypermarket chains to adopt our products will lay the foundation for a positive reception of Saku products by consumers in Poland."
The CEO also said it took Saku and its Polish dealer nine months of work from the first contacts to the signing of agreements and the first deliveries with Auchan and Carrefour, which together operate more than 180 supermarkets and hypermarkets in Poland.
Saku Olletehas goes on working toward finding new opportunities for export, as the Estonian beer market has been declining for several successive years now and export has become the main engine of growth.
"Saku Olletehas takes part in several export fairs every year in Europe and also in Asia, for instance, and this has put us in several new markets in the past couple of years," Kastein said.
Saku constantly exports its output to roughly 20 countries and exports make up nearly 50% of its total output.
