"Alibaba's goal is to reach two billion customers. Most of our exports go to Russia and Spain, which puts Estonia in a favorable position to host the regional logistics center in the future. Where a customer in Russia today has to wait 30 days for a parcel to be delivered, Estonia looks like an ideal location for us to achieve our main goal in customer service – parcels delivered to the door in 72 hours," Hao Duan, chief of investments at Alibaba Group's logistics arm Cainiao, said in a press release published by the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.

"Cooperation with Alibaba AliExpress will definitely help both sides achieve their business goals," Eesti Post CEO Aavo Karmas said.

A meeting took place in the framework of a visit of Estonia's Minister of Entrepreneurship Liisa Oviir to China between the minister and representatives of the companies to discuss possible collaboration in setting up a regional logistics center of AliExpress at Tallinn Airport.

The parties examined their development opportunities arising from the project and Enterprise Estonia made its value proposition concerning the establishment of a logistics center of AliExpress in Tallinn.

"We definitely have very good possibilities in the future to offer a transit service to AliExpress that would meet their goal of reaching the customer in 72 hours," Oviir said.

Eesti Post, which operates under the Omniva brand, is already working closely with the Chinese logistics company S.F. Express. The joint venture of the two companies, Post11, reached a monthly handling volume of 250 tons by the beginning of May.
