The Latvian Central Finance and Contracting Agency has sent an invitation to the local government of the Riga city to apply for the EU financing for a project seeking integration of the Riga port and the Riga city in the Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T), reports LETA.

More than EUR 46 million from the Cohesion fund are available to the project, the agency said.

The purpose of the project will be to create alternative routes for transit and cargo transportation in Riga that would be separated from local traffic and provided a link to the TEN-T.

The total eligible financing is EUR 54,603,887, including EUR 46,413,304 from the Cohesion Fund and at least EUR 8,190,583 from the Riga city local government.

The restricted call for tenders in which the Riga city local government has been invited to participate will last until August 3, and the Latvian Transport Ministry is the responsible authority.

The Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFCA) under the Latvian Finance Ministry ensures administration of the EU co-financed programs.
