Palameika wins women’s javelin at Diamond League meeting in Morocco

Print versionLatvia's record holder in the women's javelin, Madara Palameika, emerged victorious at this season's third Diamond League meeting in Rabat on May 22nd, Morocco, informs LETA.

Palameika won the competition with a 64.76 meter throw, which she achieved in the third attempt, showing her SB and setting a new record of the Rabat competitions.
This was the Latvian javelin thrower's second victory in Diamond League competitions. Last year, she won the London meeting of the track and field series.
Estonia's Liina Laasma was second at the Rabat meeting with a 63.65 meter throw, which is a new national record of Estonia and qualifies her for the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio. Kathryn Mitchel of Australia achieved 60.68 meters, leaving another Latvian, Lina Muze, in fourth place with 59.54 meters.
