19,000 people visited the newly restored/renovated Latvian National Art Museum on the first day after opening its doors to the public on Wednesday, LETA was informed by the Riga City Council's public relations department.

Participating in the grand re-opening of the museum was Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis (Greens/Farmers), First Lady Iveta Vejone, Minister of Culture Dace Melbarde (National Alliance) and Riga Mayor Nils Usakovs (Harmony).

 

A line of over 100 persons began forming at the museum yesterday morning before it officially opened its doors, with the line increasing by the minute throughout the day, LETA observed.

 

According to the museum, over 19,000 persons visited the museum during its grand re-opening yesterday.

 

The museum will be open six days a week from now on - on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5. p.m. The museum will be closed on Mondays.
