Riga airport to get EUR 11.5 mln from Cohesion Fund for improving security
The EU co-funding has been earmarked for Riga airport under draft government regulations on security and environmental standards at Riga airport, drawn up by the Transport Ministry.
The draft document, which on Thursday was announced at a meeting of state secretaries, has yet to be approved by the government.
The EUR 11.48 million provided by the Cohesion Fund will make up 85% of the project's total costs. Riga International Airport will pay the remaining costs.
The planned project provides for investing in the airport's infrastructure to reduce the impact of the airport's operations on the environment, improve security at the airport and make the airport's infrastructure more energy efficient.
The Central Finance and Contracting Agency will assess and select the project applications. The project has to be completed by December 31, 2023.
