The Estonian government plans to pay to farmers 4.6 million euros in extraordinary support in 2017, as well as conduct at the end of this year a review of the state's financial situation and examine possibilities for further aid, reports LETA/BNS.

"The government has decided to set apart 4.6 million euros for extraordinary support to farmers in the 2017 budget," Finance Minister Sven Sester told BNS after the Cabinet reached a political agreement on fiscal strategy for the next four years.

The Cabinet also decided that the government will at the end of this year take a fresh look at its financial possibilities and situation and consider the possibility of additional support for the farming sector, the minister said.

He noted that the government supports the sector through other measures as well, for instance, 200,000 euros will be spent on popularizing Estonian food, advancing its export and improving its competitiveness.
