Alexela Oil lifts Q1 sales by 1%

BC, Tallinn, 27.04.2016.Print version
Sales revenue of the Estonian fuel seller Alexela Oil in the first quarter of 2016 was 1% bigger than the year before, totaling 25 million euros, and the company's profit was 1 million euros, informs LETA/BNS.

"The beginning of the year was quite interesting on the fuel market--in January almost all our filling stations set sales records," Alexela Oil CEO Ain Kuusik said. "But this was due to customers' wish to buy up large amounts of fuel ahead of the excise duty rise in February. Since the excise hike, sales numbers have fallen markedly."

Sales volumes of motor gas have increased from month to month compared to the previous year. Continued growth in the sale of heavy fuel oil appears to be due to the fact that it is used also as motor fuel besides heating, Kuusik remarked.

Alexela Oil, a holding of the Alexela Grupp, has a chain of 62 filling stations and employs almost 100 people.
