Estonia introducing local food in China

Sourcing managers, officials and journalists of the Beijing region can taste food made in Estonia during the Estonian week in China, which takes place from April 24-30, informs LETA/BNS.

"Direct contacts are of utmost importance when developing exports and these can only be established when meeting face-to-face," a spokesperson for the Ministry of Rural Affairs, Kadi Raudsepp, said. "The Chinese market is large and attractive for Estonian food producers, but our products are quite unknown there," she added.

 

According to Raudsepp, promoting establishing business contacts will be focused on during the Estonian week. "Companies of the Estonian food sector interested in exports to China will be present at the Estonian week to introduce their products at different events," Raudsepp said, adding that Estonian top chefs will also be present and making food from Estonian produce.

 

Estonian Minister of Rural Affairs Urmas Kruuse will also participate in the Estonian week in Beijing. He is scheduled to meet with Vice Minister of Agriculture Qu Dongyu and AQSIQ Vice Minister Mei Kebao.

 

The Estonian week in China is a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries. During the week, Estonian tourism opportunities, food, music and design will be introduced. Estonian week is organized by the Estonian embassy in Beijing.
