New car sales in Estonia surge 10% in January
New cars made up 54% of the total import of cars to Estonia in January.
As is usual in winter months, jeeps accounted for a big portion of the total number of cars sold, with that segment making up 20% of total sales in December and 34.6% in January.
Sales of small and medium cars grew by respectively 11% and 43% over January 2015. Small medium and medium cars nevertheless continued to be the best-selling segments.
Forty-four cars were exported from Estonia during the month.
The list of carmakers was topped by Toyota with 264 new cars sold, followed by Honda and Skoda with respectively 158 and 153 units. The top three of models was made up of Honda CR-V with 103 units, Nissan Qashqai with 78 units and Toyota Avensis with 75 units.
Sales of utility vehicles declined by 3.4% year on year to 476 new utility vehicles sold in January. The top-selling brands were Peugeot with 64 units, followed by Volvo with 61 and Volkswagen with 53 units.
The truck segment was topped by Volvo and Scania with respectively 61 and 30 trucks sold.
