Latvian forestry industry exports keep growing in January-November 2015

During the first 11 months of 2015, Latvia exported EUR 1.883 billion worth of forestry industry products, which was a 3.1% rise from the same period in 2014, reported LETA, referring to the Latvian Agriculture Ministry.

During the first 11 months of 2015, Latvia exported EUR 1.607 billion worth of timber and timber products, up 2.4% from the 11-month period in 2014.

 

In January-November 2015, Latvia supplied its forestry products mainly to the UK (18.7%), Germany (10.6%) and Sweden (8.6%). Exports to the UK amounted to EUR 352 million, exports to Germany reached EUR 199 million, and exports to Sweden were 161 million.

 

In the said period, Latvia imported EUR 650 million worth of forestry products, which is a growth by 4.8% from the same period in 2014.

 

Lithuania supplied the largest amount of forestry industry products to Latvia in January-November 2015, worth EUR 113 million euros and making up 17.4% of total forestry industry imports. Estonia supplied EUR 82.6 million worth of products or 12.7%, and Poland supplied products for EUR 82.8 million or 12.7%.

 

In 2014, forestry industry exports in Latvia reached a record high level – EUR 2.015 billion, and forestry industry import value rose to EUR 688.740 million.
