Estonia's Airest may start flying between Helsinki, Pori in Finland
"Negotiations are under way at the moment," Airest manager Jaanus Ojamets told BNS. He said that if everything goes well the agreement will be signed next week.
The agreement being negotiated envisages a flight from Pori to Helsinki in the morning and from Helsinki to Pori in the evening. The town of Pori will pay the operator a subsidy of 600,000 euros, to which fare revenue will be added.
The manager said that Airest's Saab 340A turboprop, which became idle after the subcontracting flights for Estonian Air ended, could run more operations than Helsinki-Pori. "Keeping an aircraft grounded is very expensive for the airline," Ojamets said. He added that if operating agreements are concluded with more parties Airest will acquire more planes.
Airest would start flying between Pori and Helsinki in February next year and operate the flights until mid-December, which a small pause in summer.
Airest AS made a profit of 379,000 euros on revenue of 6.3 million euros in 2014.
