New industrial park opens in Estonian Johvi
According to Entrepreneurship Minister Liisa Oviir opening a new industrial park in East-Viru County would bring new employers to the region. According to the National Audit Office the county has quite many unemployed compared to other counties. Oviir expressed hope that opening a new industrial park would relieve the situation in the next few years.
From next year's state budget 700,000 euros has been allocated to accelerate the development of Ida-Viru Toostusalad as well as creating new jobs in Narva, Kohtla-Jarve and Kivioli.
The foundation includes Narva Logistics and Industrial Park, Johvi Logistics and Business Park, Kohtla-Jarve Industrial Park, Kivioli Enterprise Area and Johvi Industrial Park. The first stage of the Narva Industrial Park has created 500 jobs by the end of the year and agreements have been signed to create 400 new jobs in the next two years.
A total of 300-400 new jobs are to be created in the Johvi Industrial Park in the next five years and negotiations are ongoing to create 300 jobs in Kohtla-Jarve. More than 150 jobs are to be created in Kivioli. By the end of the decade altogether 4,400 jobs are to be created in East-Viru County industrial parks.
