Baltic Logistic Solutions (BLS), a logistical company that is part of Baltic wholesaler of food and household goods Sanitex, has expanded its warehouse complex in Riga this year and plans to complete the construction of its own warehouse in Estonia next year as it believes that own infrastructure and investment in quality are necessary for successful competition in this segment, the Verslo Zinios business daily reports on Monday.

Work on the warehouse complex in Riga was finalized in summer, informs LETA/BNS.

In Estonia, the company plans to build one warehouse that will be adapted to different temperature modes. As estimated by BLS, preliminary investment in Estonia will amount to some 12 million euros.

At the same time, the company is also considering potential further development in Riga.

“We see Latvia as the central warehouse for the Baltic Sea routes and Riga is convenient for distributing the goods delivered by sea to all Baltic markets. Estonia [Estonia’s warehouse], in its turn, is more designated for the local market…,” Jovaras Pilkionis, board member of Sanitex and BLS in Latvia, told the daily.

Sanitex, established in Lithuania back in 1992, generated 1.881 million euros in profit and 249.057 million euros in sales last year.
