Danpower Baltic, a German-Lithuanian joint venture, on November 23rd is opening a new biomass heating plant in Vilnius in which it has invested 10 million euros, informs LETA/BNS.

Construction on the new 25-megawatt plant was launched last December.

Danpower Baltic in October announced plans to purchase four biomass heating plants in Vilnius and Kaunas for an undisclosed amount of money. The company told BNS that the deal had not yet been closed.

Germany's Danpower, which is 84.9% owned by the Hannover municipal utilities company Stadtwerke Hannover, and Lithuania's renewable energy company Geco Investicijos each hold 50% of shares in Danpower Baltic.
