Latvian Employers' Confederation names Uldis Pilens the businessman 2015

Latvian Employers' Confederation has named Uldis Pilens, CEO at the UPB corporation, the businessman of the year 2015 in Latvia, reports LETA.

Pilens received award for significant contribution to the development of business environment in Latvia.

 

Rimi Latvia was awarded as the best employer in Latvia in 2015 – the company employs over 5,000 people and puts a lot of effort into improving employees' job environment, professional growth opportunities and well-being.

 

Rezekne Special Economic Zone company Verems has been named the best employer in Latgale, earning praise for inheriting the best principles from the Latvijas Finieris parent company.

 

Joint-stock dairy company Smiltenes piens, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, won the title of the best employer in Vidzeme in recognition of the company's work on putting out new dairy products and use of environmentally-friendly technologies.

 

Wood processing company Krauzers was named the best employer in Kurzeme thanks to the employment of environmentally-friendly technologies and developing successful cooperation with partners and suppliers.

 

Joint-stock egg producer Balticovo is the best employer in Zemgale this year, noted for its work on creating new niche products for food industry companies and households.


Joint-stock pharmaceutical company Olainfarm was named the best employer in Riga Region, with the company praised for not only expanding into new markets all over the world, but also caring for employees and the entire region.

 

IT company Atea Global Services is the best employer in Riga. The company's staff of 300 services a number of Nordic markets from their office in Riga.

 

According to Lursoft data, the combined turnover of the four companies was almost EUR 1 billion in 2014, which is approximately 4 percent of Latvia's gross domestic product.

 

The Employers' Confederation also awarded Cesis Region Council and Plavinas Region Council as municipal institutions that have developed highly successful cooperation with businessmen.
