FDI to Lithuania triples in Q2

In the second quarter of 2015, the flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) to Lithuania amounted to EUR 65.23 million, or 3.5 times more than in the same period a year ago, reports LETA/ELTA.
In Q2, foreign investment most of all grew from Poland: Lithuania received Polish FDI worth EUR 254.1 million, also from Germany (EUR 75.8 million) and Spain (EUR 28.7 million).
In April-June 2015, the mostly funds were invested in the manufacturing sector (153.5 million euros) and in the information and communications sector (12.3 mln euros).
In the general competitiveness index
of the World Economic Forum, Lithuania’s rating in 2015 rose by 5 points and
it was ranked in the list among 140 countries in 36th
place, but still it has the
lowest position in
terms of labor market efficiency, as only being 120th in terms of employment practices and dismissal.
