On October 8, 2015, Estonia celebrates the first Entrepreneurs Day; Statistics Estonia wrote in it statistics blog that in 2014, there were nearly 114,000 economically active enterprises in Estonia, which is 53,000 more than ten years ago, informs LETA.

Among the enterprises, nearly 87,000 were companies and over 27,000 were self-employed people or sole entrepreneurs (FIE).

The number of companies has grown over the years, but the number of self-employed people decreases. Most (94%) enterprises had less than 10 employees. There were 191 companies with at least 250 employees, of which nearly 70% in the Harju County.

Traditionally, the most numerous were trade establishments (18%), but their share has declined over the last decade – in 2004, trade enterprises accounted for 29% of all enterprises. At the same time, for example, the share of ICT businesses grows – ten years ago, there were nearly 1,500 (3% of all enterprises), but by 2014 more than 5,000 (5% of all enterprises).

More than a half of the enterprises are located in the Harju County – 52% ten years ago, but in 2014, 54% of the total.
