Enormous raw milk containers have reached agricultural cooperative Pienas LT. Specialists from the German company Pentair Sudmo have started to install them on October 1st. A total of four huge such containers will be installed, informs LETA/ELTA.

Each of them has the capacity of 300 thousand litres, is 24 metres high and weighs approximately 25 tonnes. In addition, nine smaller containers will be erected in the nearest future.

"The installation and connection of the containers to the technological equipment will mark one of the key completion stages of the plant," said Pienas LT Chairman of the Board Naglis Narauskas.

This autumn Pienas LT will begin separating milk, while from mid-2016 it will start producing milk serum protein concentrate (MSPC80), mineral milk protein concentrate (MiccC85), milk protein concentrate (MPC85) and milk per meat powder. All of the Pienas LT produce will be exported.

"Although we have faced numerous challenges, not all of which have been overcome yet, we hope that the facility will provide more opportunities for Lithuanian dairy producers to strive for fairer milk purchase prices," said Narauskas.

According to him, if the state devoted additional attention to Pienas LT plant it would enable dairy producers to achieve their goals faster.

Agricultural cooperative Pienas LT unites more than 200 dairy producers who daily supply to the market around 360 tonnes of raw milk. In 2014, Pienas LT turnover was EUR 45 million.
