The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), which has been operating in Vilnius for 22 years now and which represents over 100 different business companies from the USA, will help Lithuanian companies to prepare their homework for the successful exportation of meat and meat products to the USA, informs LETA/ELTA.

According to Zivile Sabaliauskaite, the AmCham executive director, the Chamber will help Lithuania's companies to get established in the USA market as easily and fast as possible.

"We could prepare a booklet for companies on the obligatory requirements, also look for contacts in the USA and disseminate information about products of Lithuanian companies," the executive director says.

It was already agreed to organise a seminar with Irish meat processors who have experience in meat product exportation to the USA.

As reported, in its final rule in late August, the US Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), decided that meat from cattle, sheep, swine, and goats slaughtered in Lithuania, or parts or other products thereof, processed in certified Lithuanian establishments, would be eligible for export to the USA. All such products will be subject to reinspection at United States ports of entry by FSIS inspectors.
