Riga sees 8% increase in tourist numbers in Q2

Print versionIn the second quarter of the year, a total of 334,048 guests stayed at Riga hotels and other accommodation establishments, which was 8% more when compared to the same period last year, the Central Statistical Bureau informs LETA.

The number of nights spent increased to 616,712, which was five% more when compared to last year.
Out of foreign tourists staying at Riga accommodation establishments in the second quarter of the year, the most came from Germany – 14%, followed by Russia – 9.8%, Finland – 6.6%, Estonia – 6.3%, Norway – 6.1%, Lithuania – 5.8%, Sweden – 5.4%, and Great Britain – 4.8%.
The largest increase in foreign tourists to Riga came from Denmark – by 37.3%, Spain – by 36.2%, the Netherlands – 33.9%, Ukraine – 30%, Great Britain – 21.2%, Norway – 14.3%, and France – 13.4%.
