Registrations of new vehicles in Lithuania grew by 24% in August y-o-y

State enterprise Regitra, engaged in vehicle registration in Lithuania, registered 1,344 new vehicles in August 2015, by 24% more year-on-year, reports LETA/ELTA.

Re-export significantly contributed to the growth of the new vehicle market – 193 vehicles were deregistered by the end of August, while 16 more will be deregistered in the nearest future.

 

Based on the data of automotive research company AutoTyrimai, Volkswagen was the most popular brand as 216 new Volkswagen cars were registered in August, it was followed by Fiat (215 cars) and Toyota (141 cars). Meanwhile BMW topped the prestigious vehicle class as 49 of them were registered.

 

In the personal vehicle class, Fiat 500 came out the leader (177 registered), it was followed by Nissan Qashqai (68 registered) and Volkswagen Passat (64 registered). Buyers of commercial vehicles opted most often for Peugeot Boxer and Renault Master, 13 each registered in August.

 

From January until August 2015, a total of 12,833 new vehicles were registered in Lithuania. This is by 16% more compared with the same period of 2014.
