Wood furniture exports continue to see growth in Latvia in H1

The value of Latvian wooden furniture exports in the first half of the year 2015 increased by 3% from the same period in 2014 to a total of EUR 61.16 million, which is 5.9% of the total forest industry exports in the fist six months, informs LETA, according to a report presented by the Agriculture Ministry's Department of Forests.

The largest part of Latvian furniture exported abroad, 18% or EUR 11 million worth, went to Germany. The share of Denmark was 14.2% and of Great Britain 9%.

 

In contrast, the value of imported wooden furniture decreased 7.5%, from EUR 31.12 million in the first six months of 2014 to EUR 26.42 million in the first half of this year. Most of imported wooden furniture came from Poland – 25%, Italy – 17.2%, and Lithuania – 9.4% of total imports of wooden furniture in the first six months.

 

As reported, the value of Latvian wooden furniture exports last year increased 7.3% from 2013 to a total of EUR 119.98 million, which is 6% of the total forest industry exports last year.
