New bus registrations increase by 45% in Latvia in H1

In the first half of the year 2015, 148 new buses were sold in Latvia, an increase of 48% from the first half of 2014, the Automotive Association informed LETA.

The reason behind such an increase is the renewal of Liepajas autobusu parks bus fleet, as the company bought 14 "Mercedes-Benz Sprinter" minibuses and 43 "Solaris Urbino 12" buses. Second largest buyer was Rigas mikroautobusu satiksme with 15 "Volkswagen Crafter" minibuses bought.

 

The most popular buses sold in Latvia are "Solaris" with 43 buses sold and 29% market share, "Mercedes Benz" with 32 buses sold and a market share of 22%, and "Volkswagen" with 25 buses and a market share of 17%.

 

Also, the entire European Union recorded an increase in the number of commercial vehicles and buses sold in the first half of the year – sales of 16-ton trucks increased over 20% and sales of buses weighing 3.5 tons and more increased almost 17%.
