One of the art objects, "Still Life" in the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia, will also appear in director Maris Martinsons' feature film "Magic Kimono", said Boriss Teterevs.

Shooting the film will begin in August, and it will have its premiere in Riga and Japan in the spring. Increasingly more tourists from Japan visit Latvia every year, and the "Magic Kimono" will further increase Japanese travelers' interest in Latvia, believes Teterevs.

The pending Latvian Contemporary Art Museum will also play an important role in popularizing the cultural life of Riga. The museum will be located in the territory of the "New Hanza City" business and recreation center.

The Latvian Contemporary Art Museum Fund, financed by its founders – the Boris and Inara Teterev Foundation and "ABLV Charitable Foundation" – and in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and the support of other public and private persons, will complete construction of the Contemporary Art Museum by November 18, 2021. The fund will also run the museum and build and maintain the museum's collection. Competition of designs for the museum's building will close next May, and the founders of the fund will provide at least EUR 30 million for the construction of the museum.

The art program "Tete-a-tete" that the Boris and Inara Teterev Foundation launched in 2013 will run from September 11 to October 30 this year, featuring several theater premieres, a Latvian contemporary art exhibition, contemporary classical music concerts and a performance by "London Sinfonietta", two international conferences – on public art and restoration, and much more.

During the meeting with Ameriks yesterday, Teterevs said that the title of the Rigan of the Year he was awarded three years ago was a great honor, and that he would continue to work to popularize Riga at the international arena. "I am happy that our foundation's work in art and culture, in cooperation with the Riga City Council and other major partners, has contributed to the development of cultural life in Riga and brought more tourists to the city," said the art patron.

Ameriks also said that, thanks to the very successful and creative cooperation between the Riga City Council and the Teterev Foundation, Riga was becoming more attractive to the residents and guests of the city alike. "The number of tourists visiting Riga has increased about 0.5% from 2014, and the city has to have a cultural program to match it," said Ameriks.

He emphasized the importance of the "Magnetism of Provence" painting exhibition, seen by more than 50,000 people, one-fourth of which were foreign tourists, and the ever-increasing attendances at the "Tete-a-tete" festival – both organized by the Boris and Inara Teterev Foundation.

Since 1994, the Teterev family has been regularly supporting a variety of charitable initiatives. The Teterevs are patrons of culture, education, the city's development, as well as community development (especially community funds for children, mothers, and senior citizens). The Teterevs also help animal protection organizations, people who have suffered from the economic crisis, needy residents.
