Dairy industry Valio Eesti's turnover grew by 2.5% in 2014, and exceeded 92.5 million euros by the end of the year; the company's net profit last year amounted to nearly 3.3 million, LETA/Delfi reports.

The company's Managing Director Maido Solovjov said that the expectations at the beginning of the year were much higher, but given the extremely difficult situation at the milk market, they can be satisfied with the 2014 results generally.

"For us the most important thing is that despite the closure of the Russian market, we managed to maintain the volume of production. Thanks to the efficient work on traditional and new export markets, export of dairy products continues to form more than 30% of our turnover," said Solovjov.

Valio bought raw milk in 2014 for a total of 49.5 million euros, which makes it Estonia's largest purchaser of raw milk. Last year, the average raw milk price was 34 cents per kilogram. Valio milk farms supplied the company with a total of 145 thousand tons of raw milk last year.
