Only Romania uses more fiber-optic Internet than Latvia

Only Romania uses more fiber-optic Internet with a speed of over 100 Mbit/s than Latvia, reports LETA, according to a European Commission report on the electronic communication sector.

According to the report, 40% of Internet subscribers in Latvia use fiber-optic Internet in Latvia, which is the second highest level in the EU. Only Romania has a higher level of fiber-optic Internet used – 48%.

 

Meanwhile, 11% of Internet subscribers in Lithuania use fiber-optic Internet, but in Estonia only five% used fiber-optic Internet.



 

In the Internet speed category of up to 30 Mbit/s, Latvia is fourth in the EU with 54%, only behind Belgium, Romania and Malta.

 

In Lithuania, 52% of Internet subscribers have an Internet speed of up to 30 30 Mbit/s, but in Estonia – 24%.
