Trade volume between Latvia and Israel since 2008 increases threefold

Today, PM Laimdota Straujuma (Unity) received a farewell visit from Israeli Ambassador to Latvia Hagit Ben-Yaakov, and indicated that the trade volume between both countries since 2008 has increased threefold, reported LETA.

During the meeting, the officials appreciated the active work conducted in order to extend economic relations between both countries, with Straujuma pointing out that the trade volume since 2008 has increased threefold. The prime minister also had a high opinion of the cultural ties between both countries. She thanked Israel for its support for Latvia's accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).


Straujuma also met with Moldova's Ambassador in Latvia Alexei Cracan. The prime minister highly appreciated the declaration signed at the Riga summit and pointed out Moldova's reform process, stressing that Latvia will keep supporting Moldova's eurointegration.


In discussing economic cooperation, Straujuma stressed that the trade volume between Latvia and Moldova has been growing over the past years - in 2014 even by 30%. Meanwhile, Moldova's export to the European Union has increased by 20%.
