Lithuania to cooperate with Kazakhstan in veterinary field

On 19 May, VMVT's Milius signed the Memorandum concerning the cooperation in the veterinary field between the State Food and Veterinary Service of Lithuania and Ministry of Agriculture Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee of Republic of Kazakhstan.
"By signing the agreement for cooperation in the veterinary field we have undertaken a responsibility to exchange good practices, information in regards to animal health protection, animal food and feed safety, to promote joint activities of veterinary laboratories. We will offer to sign the working technical protocol, in order to define co-operation in specific veterinary export and transit subjects in a greater detail, which will help to solve rising problems more quickly," said Milius.
After an imposed embargo of Russia and tightening border control for food, problems have started arising in transportation of products by transit to Kazakhstan. Despite this, the intensive trade with this country is being conducted , using infrastructure of Klaipeda port and goods train Saule. Also, in the nearest future it is planned to start to using electronic module of export shipments control system, where specialists of the VMVT will input data about goods transported through warehouses on transit designed for Kazakhstan and animals and animal food exporting from Lithuania.
Currently various dairy, fishery and meat products, poultry meat, animal feeds are being exported successfully to Kazakhstan. In the nearest future it is planned to agree on cattle export.
