"World's leading companies more and often choose Lithuania for their business development. It shows that we are a reliable country with not only well-educated and hard-working citizens but also a country which can offer a well-developed business infrastructure and stable economic growth," the president said.

According to Grybauskaite, consistent efforts to increase Lithuania's attractiveness to foreign investors have started bearing fruit. In the last three years, large foreign capital companies have created around 4,500 new jobs in Lithuania. The World Bank's Doing Business included Lithuania into the top ten of EU countries most favourable for business development. The European Commission forecasts that Lithuania's economy in 2015 again will be one the fastest growing economies in the EU.

As reported, in April, AIG established a Service Centre in Vilnius. As an integral part of AIG's network covering Europe, Middle East and African markets, the Vilnius AIG centre will service insurance policies, manage claims and oversee benefit payouts, Lithuanian governmental agency for investment promotion Invest Lithuania reports.

AIG chose Vilnius as the ideal place for its service centre. According to Vice President for AIG Global Shared Services, Ross McConnell, deciding factors were the high level of education, broad language skills and demonstrated professionalism within the local employment market, along with the large numbers of foreign nationals studying in Lithuanian universities. He noted that the very positive cooperation with Lithuania's Ministry of Economics and its agency Invest Lithuania played a very important role in AIG's final decision.
