Medication sales in Latvia increase to EUR 316 mln in 2014

Print versionMedication sales volume in Latvia increased EUR 8.41 million to a total of EUR 316 million in 2014, reports LETA, according to the State Agency of Medicines' data.

In 2013, medication sales totaled EUR 307.59 million.
The number of licensed drug wholesalers also increased last year. In 2014, there were 73 medication wholesale companies, up from 66 in 2013.
The average price for a pack of medicines registered in Latvia was EUR 7 last year, or about 3% more than in 2013. The average price for a pack of medicines not registered in Latvia was approximately EUR 15 – 26% up from 2013.
The most demanded medicines in Latvia last year were those meant for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases (34%), gastrointestinal diseases (23%), neurological disorders (10%), hematological (10%) and other diseases.
