Industrial production in Latvia witnessed 10.9% growth in March

Latest data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia show that compared to February industrial production volume in March 2015 (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices) increased by 10.9%.

Production growth of 7.1% in manufacturing sector was mostly promoted by growth in manufacture of basic metals (JSC KVV Liepājas metalurgs started production). Increase of 14.9% in electricity and gas supply was promoted by production growth in water-power plants. In turn, mining and quarrying witnessed a decline of 2.6%.

Compared to March 2014 industrial production volume in March 2015 (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices) grew by 8.7%, of which in mining and quarrying – by 7.4%, in manufacturing – by 7.6%, and in electricity and gas supply – by 12.3%.

 

In March growth in industrial production was recorded in manufacture of basic metals, in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products – of 40%, in manufacture of furniture – of 8.8% and in manufacture of wood and of articles of wood – of 7.7%.

 

Compared to the 4th quarter of 2014 industrial production output in the 1st quarter of 2015 increased by 0.9%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Of which in manufacturing there was an increase of 2.9%, and in mining and quarrying – of 8.2%. Electricity and gas supply witnessed a drop of 10.9%.

 

Compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, in the 1st quarter of 2015 industrial production output grew by 1.6%, and according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices. Of which in manufacturing there was an increase of 4.2%, and in mining and quarrying – of 10.4%. Electricity and gas supply witnessed a drop of 7.7%.
